CUSTOMER WARRANTY // IN PLAIN ENGLISH
Your coverage, in plain English. Every fence we install is backed by a workmanship warranty, with optional upgrades for longer terms and added protection.

OVERVIEW
There are two warranties on almost every fence, and knowing which one you are holding saves more time than anything else on this page. This one covers our work: how the posts were set, how the panels were hung, how the gate was aligned and how the hardware was fastened. The materials themselves carry a separate warranty from whoever manufactured them, written by a different company on a different document.
The test we apply is plain. If the fence is doing something it should not be doing, and the reason traces back to a decision our crew made on your job, that is workmanship and it is ours to put right. If the reason traces back to weather, to ground moving the way ground moves here, or to something that happened to the fence after we left, it sits outside this warranty. Everything below is that line, drawn in detail.
If you are reading this because something looks wrong, skip to the last section and start documenting. Everything between here and there explains how the decision gets made, but the photographs are the part that expires. Take them before anybody touches the fence, including you.

HOW TO CLAIM
Email us with your details and photos. We respond within 3 business days.
FOUR TIERS, ONE STANDARD
Every fence we install carries the first tier at no cost. You do not sign up for it, you cannot lose it by declining an upgrade, and it starts automatically. The upgrades mostly buy time on the same workmanship coverage. Premium adds priority scheduling, and Extended goes further than time alone: five years, one inspection a year by request, minor adjustment coverage and a re-stain credit.
Whichever tier you hold, the clock starts on your Completion Date, not the day you signed and not the day you paid. So if you are weighing an upgrade, the useful question is how long you want us on the hook, rather than what kinds of failure are included, because that list does not change between Basic and Standard.
If you are not sure which tier you hold, your signed packet says so, and we can look it up with you. It is worth knowing before you need it rather than after, because the tier decides how long the workmanship coverage runs and whether the yearly inspection and adjustment benefits apply.
Every install includes Tier 1 free. Upgrades must be selected and paid before your job is substantially complete.

EXTRA PROTECTION
Add-ons sit alongside your workmanship coverage rather than inside it, and each carries its own term and its own exclusions. On both cards below, read the last line as carefully as the first. That line is where the boundary actually sits, and it is the part people skip.
Transferability is the one worth deciding early rather than late. It has to be purchased, and the transfer itself has to be requested in writing within thirty days of the sale, so it is not something that can be arranged after a closing has already happened. It also does not add time. A new owner inherits whatever is left of your original term, not a fresh one.
Both add-ons behave like separate small policies with their own clocks. Stain and seal protection runs on its own two-year term and only applies where we did the staining, so a fence we built and somebody else finished is outside it. If either one matters to you, check that it is named on your paperwork rather than assuming it came along with the tier.
STAIN / SEAL PROTECTION
2-Year - when stain/seal applied by GYFO
Covers peeling, blistering, or flaking from improper prep or application, plus uneven fading. Includes one spot re-application visit within the first 12 months.
Does not cover UV color change, normal fading, or damage from chemicals, sprinklers, vegetation, or pressure washing.
TRANSFERABILITY
$149 - one-time transfer
Transfer your workmanship coverage and any active add-ons to a new property owner - with written request within 30 days of sale and payment of the transfer fee.
Coverage is not transferable unless this add-on was purchased. Transfer does not extend the original term.
Purchased separately from your workmanship tier.
THE DETAILS, MADE CLEAR
Nearly every warranty disagreement in this trade comes down to a single question: was this an installation error, or was it the ground and the weather doing what they always do? These definitions exist so that question has a written answer before anybody needs one, rather than being argued in a driveway.
Two are worth reading twice. Affected Section means a repair addresses the portion of the fence where the verified problem is, not the entire run. Unauthorized Work is broader than most people expect: it covers staining, pressure washing, repair and adjustment by anyone who is not us or a contractor we approved in writing, which is the most common way a homeowner affects their own coverage without meaning to.
Completion Date is the other one people get wrong. Your term starts when the job is substantially complete, which is not the day you signed and not the day you paid the deposit. On a job that ran across weeks that can move the end of your coverage by a month or more, so it is worth asking which date went on your paperwork.
Completion Date
The date your job is substantially complete. Your warranty period starts here.
Workmanship Defect
A failure caused by an installation error we made - not by weather, normal material behavior, misuse, site conditions, or third-party work.
Normal Settling / Ground Movement
Reasonable movement from soil expansion and contraction, moisture changes, freeze/thaw cycles, and settling.
Affected Section
Only the specific portion of the fence where a verified warranty issue exists.
Unauthorized Work
Any modification, repair, removal, staining, pressure washing, or adjustment by anyone other than GYFO or a GYFO-approved contractor in writing.
Residential vs. Commercial Use
Coverage assumes normal single-family residential use. Livestock containment, commercial sites, or repeated vehicle/equipment impact is outside normal residential wear.
EXCLUSIONS
Nothing on this list is a judgment about whether a problem is real or whether it is worth fixing. It is a statement about which document covers it. A material that fails is usually the manufacturer's responsibility. A tree that comes down in a storm is usually a question for your homeowner's insurance rather than for us.
Tell us anyway. We would rather look at something and point you to the right place than have you assume nothing can be done about it. Several items on this list are still repairs we can quote and carry out; which document applies decides who pays for the work, not whether the work is possible.
There is one exception worth pointing at. If a listed cause and an installation error are both present, the question is what actually caused the failure, not which happened first. A post that moved in a hard freeze is normal ground movement; a post that moved in a hard freeze because it was set eighteen inches deep is an installation error. Those look identical from the driveway, which is exactly why the inspection exists.
MATERIAL OR MANUFACTURER DEFECTS
Material or manufacturer defects (covered by the maker's warranty)
NORMAL WEATHERING
Normal weathering, UV color change, and wood movement within normal expectations
NORMAL SETTLING AND GROUND MOVEMENT
ACTS OF GOD
Acts of God - storms, wind, flooding, lightning, ice, falling trees
DAMAGE FROM THIRD PARTIES
Damage from third parties, vehicles, animals, or equipment
DAMAGE FROM CHEMICALS
Damage from chemicals, sprinklers, fertilizers, vegetation contact, or pressure washing
CUSTOMER MODIFICATIONS
Customer modifications, unauthorized work, or skipped maintenance
COMMERCIAL OR HIGH-LOAD
Commercial or high-load use on a residential installation
PRE-EXISTING SITE CONDITIONS NOT DISCLOSED
Pre-existing site conditions not disclosed before installation
YOUR PART
These are the habits that keep a fence in the condition this warranty assumes. Most of them come down to water and chemicals: sprinklers aimed at wood, fertilizer thrown against the boards, vegetation held tight to a panel, or water standing at a post base will age a fence faster than weather ever does on its own.
The item people trip over is pressure washing. It is the most common well-intentioned thing a homeowner does that can affect coverage, because the pressure that strips gray off a board also strips the surface of the wood underneath it. If you want the fence cleaned or re-stained, ask first and get the answer in writing. Reporting early matters for the same reason: a small issue left alone can turn into a larger and different one.
None of this requires a maintenance schedule or a service contract. It is closer to a short list of things not to do. If you only remember one, remember that anything applied to the fence - stain, sealer, cleaner, weed killer near the base - is worth a message to us first. Asking first is the cheapest thing on this page.
KEEP VEGETATION
Keep vegetation, sprinklers, and chemicals away from fence surfaces
MAINTAIN DRAINAGE AND GRADING
Maintain drainage and grading so water does not stand at post bases
DO NOT PRESSURE-WASH
Do not pressure-wash, paint, stain, or apply chemicals without our written approval
REPORT POTENTIAL ISSUES PROMPTLY
Report potential issues promptly - delays that worsen a condition can limit coverage
PROVIDE REASONABLE ACCESS FOR INSPECTION
Provide reasonable access for inspection and repair
KEEP YOUR SIGNED CONTRACT PACKET
Keep your signed contract packet and invoice
THE STANDARD WE APPLY
This is the standard an inspector applies while standing in your yard, and it is deliberately specific. A gate is judged on whether it opens and closes for normal use, whether the latch engages under normal hand pressure, and whether the hinges and posts are stable. It is not judged on whether it feels precisely as it did the day we finished.
Posts and fasteners follow the same logic. Both are covered when the cause traces back to how the work was done, and both fall outside when the cause is normal wood movement or normal ground movement with no installation error behind it. Dated photographs help here more than anything else you can provide, because they show a condition changing over time rather than at one moment.
You are entitled to the reasoning, not just the verdict. Every determination comes to you in writing and says which way it went and why, so if a claim is declined you can see what it turned on and take it up with the manufacturer or your insurer with something in hand. A decision you cannot see the reasoning behind is not much use to anybody.
Gates
Acceptable when the gate opens and closes for normal use, the latch engages with normal hand pressure, and hinges and posts are stable. Workmanship-caused issues are covered.
Posts & Structure
Covered when caused by workmanship. Movement from normal settling, soil change, or frost heave without an install error is not.
Fasteners
Covered when backing out or failing from improper technique. Movement from normal wood expansion/contraction is not, unless excessive.
Minor Adjustments (Tier 4)
Limited, non-emergency adjustments reasonably completed in a single visit per covered occurrence. Structural repairs and replacements are handled under the main warranty, not this benefit.
THE FINE LINES
The line that matters most here is the remedy. Under this warranty we repair or re-perform the affected section, and that is the whole of what the warranty provides. It does not pay out cash, and it does not extend to costs that follow on from the problem.
The other three are practical. Coverage follows the fence and gates we installed, not the deck, the patio or the landscaping around them. Comparable materials may be used if the original is no longer available when the repair happens, which matters most on color-matched products. And coverage stays with you rather than the property unless the transfer add-on was purchased.
Repair or re-performance is a narrower promise than most people assume, and it is worth understanding before you need it rather than during. It means we come back and put the fence right. It does not mean a refund, a discount, or payment for anything downstream of the problem. That is the standard shape of a workmanship warranty in this trade, and it is what this one is.
COVERAGE APPLIES TO THE FENCE
Coverage applies to the fence and gates we installed - not other structures or landscaping
OUR SOLE REMEDY IS REPAIR
Our sole remedy is repair or re-performance of the affected section - no cash refunds or consequential damages
WE MAY USE COMPARABLE MATERIALS
We may use comparable materials if the originals are unavailable at repair time
WARRANTY IS NOT TRANSFERABLE
Warranty is not transferable unless the Transferability Add-On was purchased
FILING A CLAIM
Document before you repair. Dated photographs and video from several angles, taken before anything is touched, are the single most useful thing you can do, because once a repair has happened the original condition can no longer be inspected by anyone.
Then put it in writing with your name, address, invoice number, photographs and what you noticed, and expect an acknowledgement within three business days. If what you are looking at is an urgent safety hazard, the page above tells you the order: photograph it, make a temporary fix, and notify us within twenty-four hours.
Three business days is the acknowledgement, not the repair. What happens in that window is that a person reads your claim, looks at the photographs and gets an inspection on the calendar. If the calendar is the slow part, say so when you write, because an urgent hazard and a loose picket do not need the same appointment.
DOCUMENT IT
Take dated photos and video from multiple angles before any repair. This protects your warranty rights.
