Local fence planning

Who should I contact before building a fence in Sedalia?

Start with Sedalia's Building Safety office before work begins. The city's Code Enforcement page lists its permit technician at (660) 851-7607. Share the project address, proposed fence height and layout, and ask which permits or reviews apply before you commit to materials.

Do Sedalia's historic design guidelines approve my fence?

A guideline document is not approval for a particular fence. Sedalia's Community Development page describes its September 2025 historic guidelines as awaiting further discussion and council input. Ask the department which adopted requirements and review process apply to your property before relying on a design.

Where do I start a fence permit request in Marshall?

Start with Marshall's City Inspection Department, which publishes a fence-permit application and links its Citizen Portal. The portal handles permit applications, inspection requests and status checks after registration. Review the fence application and current code information before submitting your proposed layout.

Marshall City Inspection Department

What belongs on a Marshall fence site plan?

Marshall's fence application asks you to draw the lot dimensions, adjacent streets, rights-of-way or easements, and existing structures. Add the proposed fence height and length and identify each gate. Prepare that layout before choosing materials so the department can review the actual line you intend to build.

Can a Carrollton fence cross a drainage or utility easement?

Carrollton's residential fence rules require written permission from the Zoning Administrator for fences over dedicated public drainage or on utility easements. Necessary official access must remain possible. Show the easement and proposed fence on your layout, and confirm the permission before ordering materials or setting posts.

Where should I get the current fence application in Chillicothe?

Chillicothe's Codes and Zoning application page says forms are available at City Hall while its online applications are being updated. Get the current form from the department before relying on an older downloaded fence application. Bring your proposed location, height and layout so staff can confirm the next steps.

Can I use Warrensburg's zoning map to place fence posts?

Do not use Warrensburg's online zoning map to establish the exact fence line. The city says it is not a recorded map or survey and is unsuitable for precise measurements. Check the official records for zoning questions and confirm the property boundary separately before laying out posts.

What should a Moberly fence layout show near a street or easement?

Moberly's fencing application asks whether the fence extends beyond the front lines of the building and whether it crosses a utility easement. Its layout instructions also call for existing structures, distances to property lines and bordering streets. Mark those features clearly before asking the city to review your proposal.
